WHAT IS THE ZulWsigns SYSTEM?
It is a writing system
designed to be able to describe in writing the signs that the Deaf person sees
when speaking. ASL is a three-dimensional language. This system facilitates
non-verbal communication mechanisms through writing rules, letters and
characters, which are used for handshape, orientation while the sign is made,
the place or body and spatial location where it is developed. This system is
designed to make complete sentences.
It is a practical, easy
to remember, effective and functional system to master writing in sign language
in a short time.
WHAT KIND OF LETTERS ARE USED TO WRITE ASL?
The ZulWsigns system for writing sign
language uses the same letters of the alphabet that describe the handshape for
each letter from A to Z, with some differences.
- Only capital letters and numbers describe the handshape of the hand, that is always palm to the front . The Z takes on a definite handshape. There are 7 additional uppercase letters or characters.
- Lowercase letters are not used as handshape. are used as manual locates.
- Lowercase bocal letters: a.i.e.o.u are used for the 5 fingers of the hands.
- There are additional characters and symbols that indicate the spatial and bodily location for writing.
- Body locations, when written alone, are also the name of the body part where it is located.
- Diacritical signs or symbols are used to specify the function or movement of some physical or spatial locations.
- It is written from left to right.
Such as Auditory discrimination is the ability
of the listener to recognize and distinguish differences in frequencies, timbre
between sounds, intensity, phonemes, phrases or identical words, and it is also
a basic ability for the acquisition of oral language and literacy.
The book ""AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE FOR ALL. HOW CAN YOU WRITE IT?"" , has been done with the purpose of going beyond explaining or analyzing the distinctive characteristics or peculiarities of Sign Language, instead, we intend to provide one more tool, but with practical value, putting it in writing in logical order, developing a writing system: the writing system for the Deaf ZulWsigns
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE WRITING SYSTEM ZulWsigns?
The purpose is that the Deaf person can
write and read in their own language, capture their thoughts, ideas and
feelings; also check and learn for yourself; and that he can have complete
assurance that the things he has been taught are true and reliable.
This book not only teaches sign language; it
also describes Signs; Signs that are already used by Deaf people to
communicate. With this manual it is intended that the Deaf can write the sign
language that he already uses and that another Deaf or hearing person can read
and understand it.
